I'm a bit confused about this...
With this expansion I will be able to add 8 stereo jack (teoretically 12) to the All-in-one 2.8 kit module, right?

With Atmega32, you can add 8 inputs to the All-in-one 2.8 kit module = 4 stereo jack.
With Atmega644, you can add 24 inputs to the All-in-one 2.8 kit module = 12 stereo jack.

Ah, right. Thanks and soz, if I'm asking obvious questions :)

I haven't recieved my kit yet and are building the box/jack inputs in the meantime. I'd like to take possible expansions into account.

I gather the v2.8 kit is shipped with the Atmega32 and can be upgraded to the Atmega644 at a later point.

Has this firmware been tested yet? I can't believe March is the last post on such a great upgrade??
Can I etch this daughter board? or does it have to be double sided

6 wires... hmm. I guess, if I were to build a breakout box for input extension, I could use RJ-45 / TP for the connection between MegaDrum and the extension box?

I would assume you can. I used to use RJ-45 all the time to connect the controller to my DDR pads. This seems very similar.

In any case, I'd need to make a breakout box: the 19" rack casing I got for my MegaDrum is 1U only. :| Should have gotten a 2U casing. Silly me.

Then again, it'll take me some time to make use of all 32 inputs on the MegaDrum anyway. Might not need more inputs for quite a while.

Btw, am I right in assuming that the circuit of this input extension would get its current from the external connector to the MegaDrum?
