I'm sure the answer to this is SOMEWHERE in this forum, but I haven't been able to find it. I know, shame on me!

Anyway, according to this diagram: Image

What is the numbering of pins for the 32 inputs?

Is it like this:
1,2
3,4
5,6
.
.
.
39,40

Or like this:
40,39
38,37
.
.
.
4,3
2,1

Also, I am currently making some DIY tom drums and I wasn't sure which of the two wiring schematics I should use from this webpage: http://www.toontrack.com/forum/tm.aspx?m=36342 Should I use the Roland one or the Alesis one? Will Megadrum be able to handle both schematics? I currently plan to use the Roland diagram.

1,2
3,4
5,6

39,40

The rectangular pad is always the number 1.

Thanks, that helps a lot. What about the wiring for the piezos? Should I use Roland's or Alesis'?

Megadrum is able to handle both schematics.

I just found out about this yesterday, and I'm really really interested in making a megadrum module, so expect a lot of posts from me in the future ;)
So, if I wanted to use megadrum to just expand the number of dual inputs for my td-12 module, I would wire up each input as a double input, correct?
And, if that was the case, is there a way to re-name each input to Aux# so they show up that way on the LCD?

Yes, you can.

Yes, you can edit names in the firmware ... but it's not the best way. ;)

Thanks Synthex!
I'm seeing a whole lot of different pic types, atmega32, atmega644, atmega644p (don't kill me if I got the names wrong); are there any benefits for using one over the other? If I build with the 32, could I replace it eventually with the 64? would it be wiser to get the 64 now to future-proof my megadrum?

For the moment, the firmware for the various versions are identical, but with the memory of the Atmega644, there may be differences in the future.
That's why I sell the Atmega644 with my new kit.

Yes, you can. :) They are pin to pin compatible.
